British territories
Overseas colonial holdings
British territories refers to lands under the sovereignty or jurisdiction of the United Kingdom, most commonly the fourteen British Overseas Territories scattered across the globe, from Gibraltar to the Falkland Islands to Bermuda.
These are remnants of the British Empire that chose to maintain constitutional ties to the UK rather than seek independence.
The term may also encompass Crown Dependencies like the Isle of Man and Channel Islands, which have their own relationship with the British Crown.
