AM stations
Amplitude modulation broadcasts
AM stations are radio broadcasting facilities that transmit on the amplitude modulation band, typically featuring talk radio, news, sports, and older music formats.
The AM band offers longer range, especially at night, but lower audio quality than FM: I listen to AM stations for baseball games.
The technology dates to early radio but remains widely used.
