AM band
Broadcast frequency range
The AM band is the range of radio frequencies used for amplitude modulation broadcasting, typically 530 to 1700 kilohertz.
AM radio dominated broadcasting through the mid-20th century before FM became preferred for music due to better sound quality.
The AM band now carries mostly talk radio, news, and sports programming.
I listen to talk shows on the AM band during my commute.
