5000m

Track endurance event

The 5000m (or 5000 meters) is a standard long-distance track event in athletics, covering twelve and a half laps around a standard 400-meter oval.

It's one of the premier distance races at the Olympics and World Championships, requiring a combination of speed, endurance, and tactical awareness.

Runners often refer to it simply as "the 5K" on the track, though that term more commonly describes road races of the same distance.
