bell lap
Last race round
The bell lap is the final lap of a race, traditionally signaled by ringing a bell as the leader begins it.
The term comes from track and field but applies to any multi-lap competition: She made her move on the bell lap.
Figuratively, it marks the final stretch of any extended effort: We're on the bell lap of this project.
