2x8

Standard framing timber

A 2x8 is a piece of lumber nominally two inches thick and eight inches wide, though actual dimensions are smaller due to milling.

Like other dimensional lumber, it's used in construction for floor joists, headers, and structural framing where more strength is needed than a 2x6 provides: We used 2x8s for the deck frame.
