1x4
Narrow wooden plank
A 1x4 (pronounced "one by four") is a piece of lumber nominally one inch thick and four inches wide—though actual dimensions are smaller due to milling, typically ¾" × 3½".
Common in light construction, trim work, and shelving: I need a few 1x4s for the fence slats.
The format extends to other lumber sizes: 2x4, 1x6, 2x8.
