pressure-treated

Infused against rot

Pressure-treated describes wood or other materials that have been infused with preservative chemicals under high pressure, forcing the treatment deep into the fibers to resist rot, insects, and decay.

The process is standard for outdoor lumber: pressure-treated decking, pressure-treated fence posts.

The greenish tint of pressure-treated wood comes from the copper-based preservatives.
