zig

Slalom's first angle

A zig is a sharp change of direction, usually paired with zag to describe back-and-forth movement: The rabbit zigged and zagged across the field.

To zig when others zag means to go against the crowd or make an unexpected choice.

On its own, zig emphasizes the sudden turn itself.
