wordmongers
Dealers in vocabulary
Wordmongers are people who deal in words, usually with a negative connotation suggesting excessive, careless, or mercenary use of language.
The term echoes other -monger compounds (warmonger, scandalmonger) that imply someone who trades in something undesirable.
Writers, journalists, or politicians might be dismissed as wordmongers when their output seems more about verbal production than substance: Just another wordmonger churning out copy.
