straight shooters
Candid, direct folks
Straight shooters are people who speak honestly and directly, without evasion or hidden agendas.
The term comes from marksmanship—someone who aims true rather than off-target.
In conversation, a straight shooter tells you what they actually think: I appreciate working with her because she's a straight shooter.
The phrase often implies trustworthiness in business or politics.
