wood rat
Bushy-tailed nest builder
A wood rat is a North American rodent that builds large nests of sticks, bark, and debris.
Also called pack rats, they're known for collecting objects and carrying them back to their dens—sometimes swapping one item for another, which gives rise to their alternate name.
Wood rats had nested in the abandoned cabin.
