with

In company of

Prepositions unite the attributes or qualities of two things, and with is one of the best examples: it modifies our understanding of one thing by joining it with another.

When things of the same kind are together, we say one is with the other: a woman with her child.

More often, with serves to attribute a quality, idea, or feature to another thing: a man with a mission, a hat with a ribbon, a dog with an illness.

With also names the means of doing something: eat it with a spoon.

Finally, with is the expected preposition after many intransitive verbs that show a particular relationship between the subject and something or someone else: I haven’t dealt with that yet. She argues with her brother constantly.
