comprising

Consisting entirely of

Comprising means made up of or consisting of: a crew comprising twelve sailors.

The whole comprises its parts—a book comprises chapters, not the reverse.

Despite widespread use, comprised of is considered incorrect by traditionalists, who prefer composed of or consisting of.

To comprise can also mean to constitute: Twelve sailors comprised the crew.
