winklepicker

Sharp-toed footwear style

Winklepickers are shoes or boots with extremely pointed toes, popular in British fashion during the 1950s and 1960s, particularly among teddy boys and later mods.

The name comes from the pin used to extract winkles (small sea snails) from their shells—the toe resembles that implement.

The style has revived periodically in rock and punk subcultures.
