winding key
Mainspring tension tool
A winding key is a small tool used to tighten the mainspring of a mechanical device—most commonly clocks, watches, music boxes, or wind-up toys.
The key fits into a socket and turns to store energy that powers the mechanism: She kept the winding key on the mantelpiece next to the clock.
