wildlife bridge
Fauna crossing structure
A wildlife bridge is a vegetated overpass spanning a highway or railroad, allowing animals to cross safely between fragmented habitats.
Also called a wildlife crossing or ecoduct.
These structures reduce vehicle collisions with large animals while maintaining genetic connectivity between populations: The elk herd now uses the wildlife bridge to reach their traditional grazing grounds.
