Ponte Vecchio
Arno's medieval span
Ponte Vecchio is a medieval stone bridge spanning the Arno River in Florence, Italy.
The name means "old bridge" in Italian.
Famous for the shops built along its length—historically butchers, now jewelers and goldsmiths—it is one of Florence's most recognizable landmarks and among the few European bridges to survive World War II intact.
