whizzbangs
Fast, noisy explosives
Whizzbangs are things that move fast and make noise—fireworks, speeding vehicles, flashy spectacles.
The word originated in World War I for German shells that arrived before you heard them coming, the whizz and bang nearly simultaneous.
Now it's mostly playful: The finale was all whizzbangs and confetti.
A whizbang person or thing is impressively energetic or effective.
