white willow
Silvery riverside tree
White willow is a large deciduous tree native to Europe and western Asia, with silvery-gray bark and narrow leaves that appear whitish underneath.
It is the source of salicin, a compound chemically related to aspirin, which gave willow bark its ancient reputation for relieving pain and fever.
White willow bark supplements are marketed for joint pain.
