western town

Saloon and sheriff

A western town is a settlement of the American frontier era, typically featuring wooden buildings, a main street with a saloon, and a general store.

The term evokes the romanticized Old West of the mid-to-late 1800s.

Many survive as tourist attractions or movie sets: We visited a recreated western town in Arizona.

Also called an Old West town.
