war parties
Hostile raiding groups
War parties are groups organized for armed conflict, historically referring to bands of warriors—especially Native American fighters—assembled for raids or battles.
The term now extends to factions within politics or organizations that advocate aggressive action: The war party in Congress pushed for military intervention.
A war party may also describe any group spoiling for a fight.
