voting precincts
Local ballot zones
Voting precincts are the smallest geographic units into which a jurisdiction is divided for conducting elections.
Each precinct has a designated polling place where residents cast ballots.
The term appears most often in discussions of election administration: The county redrew voting precincts after the census.
Also called election precincts or simply precincts.
