video testimony
Filmed witness account
Video testimony is a recorded statement given by a witness, survivor, or other person with relevant knowledge, typically for legal proceedings, historical documentation, or educational purposes.
The term appears most often in contexts of oral history preservation—particularly Holocaust survivor accounts—and in legal settings where witnesses cannot appear in person: The museum's archive contains thousands of hours of video testimony from concentration camp survivors.
In courtrooms, video testimony may be used for vulnerable witnesses or when physical presence is impractical.
