victory roll
Pilot's triumphant maneuver
A victory roll is an aerobatic maneuver where a pilot rolls the aircraft along its longitudinal axis while climbing, traditionally performed to celebrate a successful mission or combat victory.
The term also describes a 1940s hairstyle where sections of hair are rolled into cylindrical curls framing the face—named after the aerial maneuver and associated with wartime glamour: She styled her hair in victory rolls for the vintage photo shoot.
