valley fold

Origami's inward bend

A valley fold is the basic origami fold that creates a crease forming a valley or trough shape, with the paper folding toward you so the crease dips inward like the letter V.

The opposite is a mountain fold, where the crease peaks outward.

Valley folds appear in origami instructions as dashed lines: Bring the bottom edge up with a valley fold.
