Extracting radioactive ore
Uranium mining is the extraction of uranium ore from the earth, typically through open-pit mines, underground mines, or in-situ leaching (pumping solutions into deposits to dissolve uranium).
The ore is processed into yellowcake, a concentrated powder used as fuel for nuclear reactors and in weapons production.
The town's economy depended on uranium mining until the mill closed.
