unweight
Lift pressure off
To unweight is to reduce pressure or load on something, most often in skiing and cycling.
A skier unweights their skis momentarily to initiate a turn; a cyclist unweights the saddle before hitting a bump.
The term appears in physical therapy for exercises that reduce stress on joints: an unweighting harness for treadmill rehabilitation.
