unibodies

Single-structure car frames

Unibodies are vehicle frames where the body and chassis form a single integrated structure, rather than a separate body mounted on a frame.

Most modern cars use unibody construction for lighter weight and better handling: The crash test showed how the unibody absorbed impact.

The term also describes seamless aluminum casings on laptops and phones: Apple's unibody MacBook.
