undersleeve

Inner sleeve layer

An undersleeve is the inner sleeve of a garment, worn beneath an outer sleeve.

Historically, undersleeves were decorative accessories—separate pieces of fabric attached at the elbow or wrist, designed to show through slashed or open outer sleeves: The lace undersleeves peeked through the gown's slits.

The term also refers simply to the sleeve of an undergarment.
