underleveraged
Not maximally financed
Underleveraged describes a company or investor using less borrowed money than would be optimal or typical.
While leverage amplifies both gains and losses, being underleveraged suggests excess caution—leaving potential returns on the table by relying too heavily on equity rather than debt: The firm is underleveraged and could afford to take on more debt to fund expansion.
The opposite of overleveraged.
