unclamping

Loosening a grip

Unclamping is releasing something from a clamp or similar grip.

In surgery, unclamping a blood vessel restores flow after a procedure: The surgeon began unclamping the aorta.

The term applies whenever pressure or compression is removed: unclamping the hose, unclamping the workpiece from the bench.
