ultra-wide

Beyond standard width

Ultra-wide describes something significantly wider than standard proportions.

In displays and monitors, ultra-wide refers to aspect ratios beyond the traditional 16:9, typically 21:9 or wider: an ultra-wide gaming monitor.

In photography, ultra-wide lenses capture expansive fields of view, often 24mm or less.

The term applies to anything engineered for exceptional horizontal breadth.
