twin study
Identical-pair investigation method
A twin study is research that compares identical twins (who share all their genes) with fraternal twins (who share about half) to estimate how much genetics versus environment contributes to a trait.
If identical twins are more similar than fraternal twins for a given characteristic, genetic factors likely play a role: Twin studies suggest that intelligence is about 50% heritable.
