turkey-shoots

One-sided competitive slaughters

Turkey-shoots are competitions or situations where the outcome is so lopsided that one side has an overwhelming advantage.

The term comes from shooting contests where live turkeys were tethered as easy targets.

Now it describes any contest lacking real competition: The game turned into a turkey-shoot after halftime.

In military slang, a turkey-shoot is an engagement where the enemy is defenseless.
