tule
Western wetland sedge
Tule is a type of bulrush that grows in marshy areas, especially in California and the American Southwest.
The plant forms dense stands in wetlands and was traditionally used by Indigenous peoples for weaving mats, baskets, and boat-like rafts.
Tule fog is the thick ground fog that settles in California's Central Valley, named for the tule marshes where it forms.
