Native
Born of place
Native as a proper adjective refers to Indigenous peoples, especially in North America: Native American, Native Alaskan.
It acknowledges original inhabitants and their descendants as distinct cultural groups rather than generic "natives." Many style guides now prefer this capitalized form when discussing Indigenous identity: Native communities have fought for treaty rights. (Lowercase native means originating in a place.)
