tribalize
Divide into clans
To tribalize is to organize or divide into tribes, or to cause people to adopt tribal identities and loyalties.
The word usually carries negative connotations, suggesting fragmentation along ethnic, political, or cultural lines: Social media has tribalized political discourse.
The adjective tribalized describes societies or groups already divided this way: a tribalized electorate.
