tradespersons

Manual labor professionals

Tradespersons is the plural of tradesperson, a gender-neutral term for someone who works in a skilled trade—plumbing, electrical work, carpentry, and the like.

The word emerged as an alternative to tradesman, though it remains somewhat awkward in speech: We're waiting for the tradespersons to finish the renovation.

Tradespeople is often preferred as a smoother plural.
