torpidity

State of inactivity

Torpidity is the state of being torpid—sluggish, dormant, or mentally inactive.

In biology, it describes the reduced metabolic state of hibernating animals: The ground squirrel entered torpidity as winter approached.

More broadly, it suggests any condition of dullness or lethargy: The heat induced a pleasant torpidity.
