tornado outbreak
Multiple cyclone event
A tornado outbreak is a cluster of tornadoes spawned by a single weather system over a relatively short period, typically within hours to a day or two.
Outbreaks can produce dozens of tornadoes across multiple states: The April 2011 Super Outbreak spawned over 300 tornadoes in four days.
Meteorologists distinguish outbreaks from isolated tornado events by the number and geographic spread of the storms.
