severe thunderstorm
Dangerous electrical storm
A severe thunderstorm is a thunderstorm that produces large hail, damaging winds, or tornadoes.
In the United States, the National Weather Service defines it specifically as a storm with hail at least one inch in diameter or winds of 58 mph or greater.
A severe thunderstorm warning means one has been spotted or detected on radar: Take shelter—there's a severe thunderstorm warning for the county.
