torn cartilage
Joint tissue damage
Torn cartilage is damage to the tough, flexible tissue that cushions joints—most commonly the meniscus in the knee.
The injury typically results from sudden twisting motions or gradual wear, causing pain, swelling, and limited mobility: The MRI showed torn cartilage in his right knee.
Treatment ranges from rest and physical therapy to surgical repair.
