tooth sockets
Jaw bone holes
Tooth sockets are the cavities in the jawbone where teeth are anchored.
Each socket, technically called an alveolus, holds a tooth root in place.
After a tooth is extracted, the socket gradually fills with bone tissue: The dentist said my tooth sockets were healing well.
