lambdoid suture
Posterior cranial joint
The lambdoid suture is the zigzag joint where the back of the skull meets its base—specifically where the parietal bones connect to the occipital bone.
Named for its resemblance to the Greek letter lambda (Λ), it's one of the major cranial sutures that allow an infant's skull to flex during birth and accommodate brain growth.
