throwaway accounts
Temporary online identities
Throwaway accounts are temporary online accounts created for a single purpose, then abandoned.
Users create them to post anonymously—asking embarrassing questions, sharing secrets, or avoiding association with their main identity: I'm using a throwaway because my wife knows my Reddit username.
The term implies the account has no lasting value to its creator.
