three-way calling
Trio phone conversation
Three-way calling is a telephone feature that allows a person to speak with two other parties simultaneously on the same call.
The caller typically initiates a conversation with one person, then puts them on hold to dial a third party, and finally merges all three into a single conversation.
I used three-way calling to conference in my sister while talking to Mom.
The feature became standard on landlines in the late twentieth century and remains common on mobile phones.
