this is fine

This is fine is a sardonic phrase expressing resigned acceptance of chaos or disaster, popularized by a 2013 webcomic panel showing a cartoon dog sitting calmly in a burning room.

Used when circumstances are clearly not fine but you're pretending otherwise: The project deadline is tomorrow and nothing works. This is fine.

The phrase captures a distinctly modern brand of ironic cope—acknowledging catastrophe while performing calm.
