why so serious
You're too intense
A mocking question aimed at someone perceived as humorless, uptight, or overreacting to something trivial.
The phrase gained currency from Heath Ledger's Joker in *The Dark Knight* (2008), who asks it while menacing victims.
Now used playfully to deflate tension or tease someone for being intense: I made one little joke and she got upset—why so serious?
