terminal station

End of line

A terminal station is the final stop on a transportation route—where trains, buses, or other transit lines end rather than continue through.

Passengers must disembark because the line goes no farther: Grand Central Terminal is a terminal station; trains arrive and depart but don't pass through.

The term distinguishes end-of-line stations from through stations where vehicles stop briefly and continue.
